Chanelling my inner Martha.
I moved my studio back home this past winter and settled in, but didn't manage to get it quite as organized as I would have liked.
In the last week though, if you sat still in my studio long enough I would have put a label on your forehead. I have been an organizing, studio-dandifying force to behold {at least for me}.
In addition to my product orders and few smaller magazine projects, I have been working to make the studio purdy for a photo shoot next week for a brand new magazine.
I created my own labels on the computer. I have so many of these rubbermaid boxes I should have bought stock in the company.
I covered my small file cabinets with fun gift wrap - they are under my long work counter and were black, too dark. Completely frivolous?
Now the challenge will be to stay organized.

everything looks fantastic!
i may need to hire you...

a quick tutorial on how you covered your cabinets and where you found the lovely paper would be oh so dreamy...

Your studio always amazes me. Good luck with the photo shoot. I bet they want in the house too!

I'm curious about the adhesive you used on the file cabinets....
I've been offered some particularly grim cabinets, and while I could use them, I turned them down because I could not bear looking at something so ugly every day.
How sad. I, apparently, would rather be disorganized than to live with ugly cabinets.

In the interest of honesty - I need to stress that I do not think I am a very organized person. I aspire to be one, and well, there is just a lot going on - do you know what I mean? You start some organizing task but then do not accomplish it or maintain it. I try.
So - the file cabinets. I used 3M Super77 Spray adhesive. The paper is from Cavallini and Company, they have a few different styles of letters, maps and decorative wrap that isn't patterned.
To cover the cabinets - I removed the drawers first.
Measure pieces for the front, adding 1 inch width to each piece.
Apply spray adhesive to back of paper {Best to do this outside, on top of newsprint - replace newsprint as needed to avoid getting adhesive on good side}
First apply long pieces that are height of cabinet, apply to edge and use bone folder to fold extra { one inch} paper onto side of cabinet.
Next apply short pieces to front, folding excess to top of cabinet/ under cabinet.
Next measure and cut paper for sides of cabinet adding 1 inch to width and measure and cut paper for top adding 1 inch to length.
Apply spray adhesive one at time and apply to cabinet, lining up edge of paper to front edge of cabinet and folding excess paper to back of cabinet.
Measure and cut paper for drawer adding enough extra to fold over inside top of drawer.
Burnish all the paper down with a bone folder.
For a hard wearing finish, apply a thin layer of matte Modge Podge {craft store} or even a matte spray.
Please feel free to contact me with questions.
