When I was a kid here in Oregon {in the, COUGH, 70's}, the unofficial slogan, taken from a statement by our governor, was: Oregon - a nice place to visit, but don't plan to stay. Obviously, time changes things - check this fun video on Portland:

*Post Edit* Did you see that tranquil, zen sand garden at 2:10? Once we had our back turned and M,{at 2 and a half} scaled the 2 plank wood border in order play in the sand box. Then, a tantrum/sand-disturbing skirmish ensued as we removed him. Ah, good times.
