Interesting editorial in the Times regarding the Health Care Bill protests:

"No less curious is how disproportionate this red-hot anger is to its proximate cause. The historic Obama-Pelosi health care victory is a big deal, all right, so much so it doesn’t need Joe Biden’s adjective to hype it. But the bill does not erect a huge New Deal-Great Society-style government program. In lieu of a public option, it delivers 32 million newly insured Americans to private insurers. As no less a conservative authority than The Wall Street Journal editorial page observed last week, the bill’s prototype is the health care legislation Mitt Romney signed into law in Massachusetts. It contains what used to be considered Republican ideas.

Yet it’s this bill that inspired G.O.P. congressmen on the House floor to egg on disruptive protesters even as they were being evicted from the gallery by the Capitol Police last Sunday. It’s this bill that prompted a congressman to shout “baby killer” at Bart Stupak, a staunch anti-abortion Democrat. It’s this bill that drove a demonstrator to spit on Emanuel Cleaver, a black representative from Missouri. And it’s this “middle-of-the-road” bill, as Obama accurately calls it, that has incited an unglued firestorm of homicidal rhetoric, from “Kill the bill!” to Sarah Palin’s cry for her followers to “reload.” At least four of the House members hit with death threats or vandalism are among the 20 political targets Palin marks with rifle crosshairs on a map on her Facebook page."

Referencing the V.P.'s recent gaffe and the passage of the Health Care Bill - love it! { and agree that it's a big --- deal!}

M was in the class play last week. It was fun to watch all of the kids and he did well. A lot of unexpected comedy all around. I don't volunteer as much I would like to, but was able to contribute by hand-lettering the program cover.

You could say that C is a natural for climbing the walls... finished up his Bouldering class at the comm. center. One exercise is to get the rubber chickens that are placed in some of the upper hand-holds and to drop them into a bucket behind them on the ground, and also to tap balls off a series of orange cones with their foot or hand.

I love watching both of them do things they enjoy.

Other ways they had me smiling this past week:

C told me his back hurt and that I needed to buy him a Sleep Number bed.

Playing with their track, there was a big train wreck. M told C that one of the bystanders immediately fell to sleep and proceeded  to explain Narcolepsy to his little brother.

And, of course, just by being the crazy little guys they are.

This is a favorite VINTAGE find, because it was mine when I was a baby and I am OLD.

{tangent: do you feel like the world conspires to make you feel old? Like bringing back leg warmers and 1980's wide-stripe shirts and, oh god, a Smurf movie. I do.}

There are some names on there that I can't read or recognize. But Mom is on there and Love, Daddy too.

Well, not screamed exactly, but you know what I mean. Just like a tumble on the  playground, get up and brush yourself off and go out and have more fun.

but some days, parenting can be really hard.

Grammar rules

One error that I encounter often online that makes me twitch slightly is lose/loose confusion, although I would never comment to correct someone. Is there a grammar rule that drives you nuts or that you commit regularly?

I am not very good at remembering many grammar rules myself and probably drive some folks nuts with my dangling participles.{that kinda sounds dirty}I am sure if I had been 'applying*' myself in high school, I would be able to avoid simple errors. Anyways, I like these little illustrations from one of my vintage books:
