In the interest of preventing the loss of a life savings,  we had to epoxy a piggy bank closed last week. All of the bills {more than I would want to lose} were continually being taken out, wadded up, stuffed in makeshift wallets and then falling out in various spots throughout the house or barely surviving the laundry cycle.

So, inspired by a similar project in a vintage kid's magazine,  I made a paper piggy bank for C's discretionary spending losing $. An easy way to dedicate a bank for a specific use, such as savings or charity.

They are free to download if you like:  Download BlankBank and  Download PiggyBank versions. Just print the templates out on card / cover stock weight paper, with a borderless 8.5 x 11 margin setting; instructions are on the sheet.

5 of the many things I adore about M:

1. that I learn something new from him everyday.

2. that he gives great compliments.

3. that he is a terrible liar*.

4. that he likes to wear his lego bowtie.

5. that he told me that I have 2/3 of his love - apparently everyone else has to share the other 1/3. Sorry guys.

Me: Did you by chance eat that other half of peach I had left on the cutting board? {not a big deal}

M: Um, no, Marble {the dog} ate it.

Me: What happened to the pit?

M: She threw it away.

Me: {my eyes scan down to the wet spots of juice on his shirt}

M: And she wiped her paws on my shirt!

Lasterday**,

C turned 5. The weekend included much spoiling by grandparents, a great visit with a cousin, the H2O room at the Children's Museum, a tent in the living room, DIY pancakes {you cook them at your table, we tried bacon + chocolate chips}and a fun, fun picnic with cake {just how he requested it}. THANKS FAMILY! He also requested a pointy birthday hat, so I obliged.

Happy 5 little man. You are adored.

  
 

   

 

** Lasterday is a word that C made up. It refers to any day other than yesterday. It comes in handy - when memory fails to remember something was 'last Tuesday' you can use the ever-applicable lasterday.

The Stock Market

parenthood is fun.

Kids are awesome.

Last week, C {4} came up to me and started his sentence with "Okay, here's the deal....". That sums up his personality in under 5 words.

M {11} saw a musical last week for a school fieldtrip. Later that day he got on GarageBand on the computer and recorded a spontaneous, rousing {and long - 5 min.} showtune about the Chernobyl disaster and the town of Prypiat.  An article in National Geographic was his muse.

As I type this C is putting the finishing touches on his fort that he has constructed with 3 blankets, a coat rack, 8 pillows, a suitcase and a carry-on, a stack of books, a box of train pieces and 2 bins of toys. All at the end of my bed.
