I started a list of resolutions for the New Year - a list of things I want to change, goals I want to accomplish, things I want to undertake in 2008. I don’t think I have ever written down a list of resolutions. As the list grew, it got me thinking - at what point is the remaining structure going to be able to handle this much renovation? In order for these goals to be accomplished is it going to require that someone else, some completely different type of person, inhabit my body? I am not, by nature, very up-with-people, after all. Don't resolutions demand optimism?
This got me thinking of old Phrenology diagrams - the mapping of the brain, what goes where. Sure, they aren't diagrams you want your neurosurgeon relying on, but I like the idea of it, like little cubbyholes.
What if I could do the same? I could approach the New Year giving a lot less real estate in there to doubt or snarkiness and map out more room for the qualities I want to see manifest.
So then, I have made up my mind. For now anyways, this is a first draft for my memo board.
