I once saw a cartoon of a little boy so excited as he had just found the perfect gift for his mother: a drum set! This heart box is kind of like that. Although it is for G, I wanted it to be like a sacred heart and I am the one that is into religious iconography {mix of Catholic upbringing and years of art history, I think}, so I hope he likes it.
I kind of like it, although there would be changes if I were to make it again. It is pretty small, under two inches across. I embossed the velvet on top with a rubber stamp {je t'aime} and gave it some dimension by layering thicker velvet underneath. The sides of the top are velvet and the silver is pleated paper. The outer edge of the base is vintage bookcloth.
