Fellow blogger Stephanie Nielson {Nie Nie Dialogues} and her husband Christian were in a small private aircraft that crashed to the ground on August 16th. Their fellow passenger, Doug Kinneard, a flight instructor, did not survive his injuries. Stephanie and her husband, parents to four young children, are currently in critical but stable condition. Stephanie has third degree burns over almost 80% of her body. Their recovery is expected to take many months and be very expensive.
Stephanie's sister Courtney, who is now caring for three of the couple's children, is providing updates and organizing, as well as thoughtfully sharing so much more, on her blog - she is pretty amazing. In addition, there is a Nie Recovery site: a place for folks to donate directly to the fundraising drive for the Nielsen's recovery, an opportunity to learn more about the couple, and a benefit blog to stay updated.
Gabrielle at Design Mom dedicated today NieNie Day and encouraged fellow bloggers to participate.Taking her lead, I am putting up two items for auction.
Here is how it will work:
Bidding starts at $10 and goes up by a minimum of $1 increments.
To bid on an item, leave a comment on the post of the item you want - reading through the other comments/bids to determine where the bid is at.
You may bid anonymously, as long as you use a valid email address.
Bidding will be open until Saturday, 9 pm Pacific.
All the money is going directly to the Nielsons.
* update* I am seeing how most of the other auctions are handling payment by the winning bidder and will do the same: the winning bidder will donate the final bid amount directly to the Nielson Recovery Paypal account and then email the receipt of payment to me. Upon receiving the confirmation email, I will send your item right out.
