Hurt, I tell you!

In a radio interview, Sarah Palin said she fears her First Amendment rights may be threatened by "attacks" from reporters who suggest she is engaging in a negative campaign against Barack Obama.

"If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations," Palin told host Chris Plante, "then I don't know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media." {source}

I am sorry, but that assertion is pure absurdity in triplicate.

This devil is for tallying the current bid in a game of Bridge. He is made of celluloid/french ivory and the tail and arm act as movable pointers.  I don't play Bridge or many other card games {except, perhaps, Go Fish}, so he keeps my husband's hot sauce collection company.

Here is another gift idea that uses magnets. Those ubiquitous, colorful magnetic letters can spell out the recipient's name.

Drawing the line.

I love the vintage series of Junior Deluxe Edition books from the mid-fifties.I have a number of them and am always on the lookout. Each book in the series has a tooled cover and come in fun colors. Some are volumes of short stories, each with a different illustrator and others are chapter books. I picked up these three recently, and can't stop admiring the line drawings by Lenoard Wisegard.
