Birds of a feather

I don't think I would do very well if I ever gave embroidery a serious attempt. I do like it though. I found a bunch of these vintage embroidered birds  - the photos are kind of washed out, the green is what you would expect on a 1940's quilt, that jadite green. I have squirreled away a couple of these to stretch over  small canvases for the wall in C's room. Today I am adding a small flock of birds to my OpenDrawer shop. {still need to get a  couple posted}

Silver Bella

Excited to tell you that I will be teaching two different workshops at Silver Bella this year!  If you haven' t heard of this perennially popular event, it is an art workshop weekend that includes classes from 8 different artists, some great events, a sale and a warm community of makers. Organized by Teresa McFayden , {seriously, this women GETS IT DONE, so impressed.} this year's Silver Bella is November 12 - 14.

At this lovely store {some are hard to find}, unfortunately missing her , as it was the weekend. I did get to meet her, a pleasure!

his final offer

C was grumpy from not getting what he wanted {yes, a shocker to those that know him}. After a few minutes, he softened the slightest bit and huffed "OK, you can be my parent, but this is your last chance."

Always will be and grateful for even the toughest moments.

the mother of invention

A fine example of the art of necessity - printers in 1930's Spain, starved of funds, ingeniously used their resources at hand to respond and contribute to the era's avant-garde aesthetic. Printers transformed  dingbats, bullets and ornaments into modern type and illustrations.

Sometimes constraints, limitations or problems to solve are to be embraced and can spur a dynamic response more creative and unique than having an abundance of resources or choices. Certainly a lesson I can apply to many facets of life.
